Eli and Crissy were married at Washington Park in Denver, Colorado on June 13, 2014.
The Mirabal family has never been so involved in a wedding before!
I was the photographer, Lillian and River were flower girls and Shepherd was a bubble blower. Haha!
And Stephen, officiated. So, basically, I TOTALLY had the hots for the pastor.
We drove up the Denver the day before the wedding and made it just in time for the rehearsal. The day of, Lillian palled around with me while Crissy and her lovely bridesmaids all got ready.
I think she felt all grown up, and it was so sweet to see her in that setting.
Wedding days are always a bit frantic, but during the secret reveal between Crissy and Eli, everything was calm and beautiful. I adore when a bride and groom choose to do this. Not only does it make the day easier, but it gives the couple some time to pause and reflect on what is happening. Their tears of joy and adoration aren’t lost in all that’s going on, but are focused on and not rushed. Everyone loves the groom’s face as his new bride walks down the aisle, and what can possibly make that moment even sweeter? Giving it longer than that. An intimate moment suspended. I love capturing this. The groom’s true reaction shows even more when he’s not trying to hold it together in front of his gathered friends and family.
Once it was time to photograph the entire wedding party, I was dressing River and Shepherd in the middle of the park. I was sweating, frazzled, thought I lost my glasses. A bug flew into my eyeball and I screamed like a girl and had a bridesmaid (luckily she’s a friend of mine…) attempt to dig it out of my eye. Anyway, aside from all of my inner chaos, this may have been my favorite ceremony yet. They served communion to their guests, which was so beautiful and powerful. To pause and feel the grace of God in the middle of a wedding ceremony is how it should be, right?
